A year in life without you

12.5.19 And well, it’s now been one year. Today I turn 26, 365 days of being without you, of being 25, 365 photos to share with you of my life. Today is a little over 1 year and 7 months since you passed. And it has been a year. I started the year out being angry and mad at the universe for leaving me alone. I started out not trusting anything, being afraid of change, of being so sad. Slowly I learned to stand on my own, to love myself better than anyone else could, to take care of myself better, to take care of Leo better. So many lessons, and so many more to go. But that’s why we’re here right? To learn, grow, to change and evolve. I have my roots now. And they are ready to grow deep. The next chapter awaits! For now I focus on my house. There are so many people I need to thank. I could not have gotten to where I am now without my friends and family. It has been such a year. So many tears, so much loss and broken-hearted ness, so many laughs and so many new beautiful connections. I learned that I need nothing other than what is inside myself. And my life is my own. I’ve learned what true friendship is, what it looks like, and how to hold onto it. Love is a beautiful and powerful thing. I wanted to end this series with how it began, a photo of myself. Then and now. So different and so much the same. I don’t know if I believe that find we find ourselves. I think we grow into ourselves. I love you Mom. I miss you and think about you every day. You are so much a part of me and everything I do. My friends celebrate you with me. I look forward to the day we get to walk hand in hand again. 12.4.19 I am already being so spoiled and having the best birthday. Plans have been made to go to a concert with a bunch of my friends on Friday. Today, Blair came over and made me a birthday cake and showered me with presents. She made it feel like you were here. She got me things that represented you, heard me mention all the small things, and she made an angel food cake (our favorite) with whipped raspberry cream cheese frosting. I cried. You didn’t get know her physically but I know that you’ve watched over her. She is my family and she ties you in to our lives all the time. This was so special.
